How It All Began

Inspired by the portrait of Christabel Pankhurst by Ethel Wright
Artwork available to view at the National Portrait Gallery

The art of textiles has always been synonymous with women, often as a practical craft, and far from being purely aesthetic. One Dress promotes women’s rights in the enchanting medium of haute couture.

One Dress tells the story of the women who have contributed skills, words and materials to the dress. By adding a word to the dress you are supporting women and crafts, you will be part of women's history.

Always Fair Trade - Every woman involved in One Dress is paid fairly for their time and skill
Sustainable Supply Chains - The unique fabrics used are from our incredible producers
Reclaimed - Embroidery in vintage or found violet yarn covers the gown, representing ”Voices” of women (Please send thread to donate to the Atelier).
