One Dress: Planet

A contemporary Embroidered couture Artwork against ecocide

One Dress: PLANET revealed at London Fashion Week

One Dress: PLANET is a unique piece of textile art supporting the work of Stop Ecocide International

This is the second collaborative couture project from the Tammam Atelier - connecting creators and consumers, and challenging the way we buy fashion. Instead of selling many replicas of one design, as regular fashion collections, the project offers the opportunity to customers to own a small piece of one couture gown.

For this dress, small embroideries of diverse plant species, from different ecosystems and environments, endangered because of human destruction, can be purchased and added to the evolving garment. These bespoke hand stitched embroideries are made by artisans who are credited alongside the owner on the One Dress register.

How does One Dress Work?

  • You get to own an embroidery on One Dress - PLANET. You won’t have it physically but it will be yours, meaning you are part of the collective who created the dress. There is also an option to buy a twin embroidery which will look the same and be sent to you as a patch.

If you choose to buy the twin embroidery, this will be sent you in the post.

Your name (or the name of the person/people to who you dedicate the embroidery) to will appear on a register, along with the name of the embroiderer and information about the plant species that has been embroidered.

You’ll get VIP access to the finished One Dress in the UK and on tour across the world in 2025.

  • Artisans will be credited fully as collaborators. We work directly with all artisans and ensure they are treated well and paid fairly.

One Dress: PLANET is being created with Stop Ecocide International, an incredible organisation, which is driving the global conversation around a new law of ecocide to protect the Earth.

Making less and creating consciously ensures One Dress is regenerative - giving back more to the Earth than it takes out.

  • One Dress is about transparency. The proceeds from the embroideries go to various places. For example when you spend £50 on an embroidery this is how much everyone gets:

    £15.00 30% Embroidery

£7.50 15% Stitching the dress and materials

£7.50 15% Studio costs and general overheads

    £7.50 15% Marketing

    £4 8% Project management

    £4 8% Showcasing costs

    £2.50 5% Stop Ecocide International

£2 4% Fees (card transactions, accountancy, legal fees etc)

  • Choose an embroidery of a plant or flower from one of the six ecosystems

  • The completed One Dress: PLANET will be revealed at a catwalk show as part of the Tammam 2025 collection during London Fashion Week.

One Dress: PLANET will spend the next year touring the globe, becoming a focal point at climate conferences, events and COPs - ensuring ecocide is top of every agenda.

Anyone who has contributed to the project will be invited to VIP viewings to see the dress.

  • The under dress is made of 100% organic fair trade certified cotton, a stock fabric left over from our past collections, which was initially purchased as a surplus material from one of our partner producers in India who have FLO and GOTS certifications.. The corset has a 100% cotton coutil interlining and steel boning and eyelets - we created the corset as part of a training program to pass couture skills on to young stitching technicians.

Embroideries are made of surplus, reclaimed and vintage yarns. Mostly they are 100% cotton (with the exception of a few vintage yarns which we are not sure about). The embroideries are backed onto offcut cotton fabric.

The "leaves" of the skirt are made of a fabric developed in partnership with our incredible weavers - the Kanhirode weavers co-operative, in Kerala, India. Hand woven on traditional looms the weaving uses only (wo)man power, we have used a unique mixture of organic certified cotton, regenerative cotton from Raddis and Tencel Luxe yarns.

The prints on the skirt are created with Air Ink - an ink made out of air pollution.

Choose a flora embroidery

Suggest and dedicate a plant species to be embroidered

One Dress: PLANET will be embroidered by couture artisans, in London, Bangalore and beyond. Covering the dress with images of flora from ecosystems endangered due to human action on earth, the dress aims to benefit its contributors and creators, many of whom have faced negative impacts of environmental pollution. Offering fair employment, opportunity to be part of something that will make a difference and giving artisans understanding of the issue of ecocide ensures One Dress: PLANET has multiple layers of purpose.

Much more than just a fashion statement, One Dress: PLANET embodies a call to action: inviting individuals to engage with issues of environmental stewardship and ecological preservation. Through its fusion of couture craftsmanship and activist principles, this project paves the way for a more conscious and compassionate approach to fashion—one that celebrates the beauty of our planet while advocating for its protection.

Ecosystems

  • Aquatic

Sea, river, lake, coral reef - there exists a whole range of aquatic biomes. We have included incredible, carbon-capturing mangroves, found on the edge of coastlines in this ecosystem.

  • Desert

    Desert

Dry regions like the Sahara and Gobi have very low precipitation rates yet still provide habitat for over 2,000 plant species, proving the remarkable resilience and adaptability of life in this harsh environment.

  • Forest

Boreal, temperate, woodland forests are dryer than rainforests. They are also dominated by trees and home to rich biodiversity.

  • Grassland

Montane, temperate, tropical and subtropical grasslands are defined by the presence of grasses and evident across the earth.

  • Rainforest

Forests with high precipitation allow for a wealth of plant life to thrive.

  • Tundra

Cold desert and bare earth found near the poles.

“I have designed and created so many dresses in my years as a fashion Designer and couturier, but the world doesn’t need more dresses.

so now I’m only going to make one Dress - One dress that takes as much effort, time and skill to create as a whole collection, but says and does so much more. "
